Thanksgiving is one of the few food-forward holidays that doesn’t ask much of oral care beyond the usual brushing and flossing. Aside from an occasional sticky situation from pecan pie, most traditional dishes aren’t going to spark a wave of emergency dental visits—and for that, the whole industry can be thankful.
Around Oryx, we took the lighter route this week and asked the team about their favorite Thanksgiving (or for our international teammates, favorite Thursday) menu items. Surprisingly, turkey didn’t get a single standalone shoutout. Instead, our resident food enthusiasts, Katie Nelson and Tahlor DiCicco, championed the “perfect bite,” where turkey only shines as part of a well-balanced, well-orchestrated plate. Stuffing earned repeat praise across Product, Finance, and Marketing, and even earned an honorable mention from our Dubai-based revenue marketer.
We also heard stories of families letting kids set the menu. Rosie Avila offered a refreshing yet unapologetic vote for pizza (while still going the extra mile to cook the traditional spread for everyone else). The surprisingly timeless classic, green bean casserole, even got love from Kristin Gangswisch and Yazmeen Fernandez—who also added Lebanese grape leaves to the cultural mix as well.
What stood out wasn’t the overlap in dishes but the comfort in sharing them. This is the kind of people-first, healthy, collaborative culture that defines Oryx. Oryx is a place where you can show up as yourself (no performative posturing, no pretense) and feel like you belong at the table. Even my own left-field enthusiasm for fried Brussels sprouts earned smiles instead of side-eyes. Many of us have been in workplaces where “team” was more tagline than truth. Here, the variety is the value. Everyone brings something unique, and everyone is welcomed with the same warmth they extend to others.
This spirit of care has been part of Oryx from day one. Here’s our origin story—told by the dentist who built it.
That’s the human element behind Oryx’s steady yet remarkable growth. The technology built here only works because it reflects the people who use it: clinicians, administrators, educators, and dental industry partners. The care that goes into Oryx products comes from a caring community and culture.
We’re grateful for our team, our customers, and the broader dental community that continues to inspire what we build. Wishing you a warm, delicious, and tooth-friendly Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving from our growing Oryx family.
