As complex as any software may seem, it’s still just a tool, and evaluating tools is one of my specialties.
I’m Andrew Moravick, Head of Revenue Marketing for Oryx. How I operate as a marketer is to help people find the best tools for whatever they’re trying to do.
If all the cards are on the table, and that’s Oryx for you, great! If there’s something else that may be better for you, I want you to be able to recognize that too.
Dental practice management software is one of the core, infrastructural elements that practices need to function. I’m confident very few people need convincing that they need “a” platform, at this point. Knowing what’s “THE” best-fit platform is something else entirely. To be blunt, the evaluation process can be… a lot.
With dozens of vendors promising similar outcomes, how do you, as a dental professional (not a Forbes-reading, business-jargon fluent, classically-trained software analyst) know what’s right for you?
Peer reviews.
Peer reviews are a great place to start because they’re real, written by people who talk like you, and can guide the evaluation process. It’s also why platforms like G2, which function like libraries of user reviews, are becoming essential tools in the decision-making toolkit.
For any software or provider I’m evaluating, review sites are where I look first. It’s where I orient myself on what’s out there, and see how all the options stack up at a glance. G2, in particular, adds further value as a tool for discernment, by organizing drill-downs into specific reviews so I know what’s behind each rating.
Why Peer Reviews Should Guide Your Software Search
The best recommendations don’t often come from marketers or sales reps (but we’d like to be exceptions to that rule at Oryx, at least). They come from other dental professionals just like you.
Platforms like G2 aggregate verified, third-party reviews from actual users, providing transparent insights into what a solution is really like to use in day-to-day practice.
Unlike generic rating sites, G2 ranks software using two key factors:
- Customer Satisfaction (based on verified user reviews)
- Market Presence (based on overall reach and adoption)
Solutions are then plotted on the G2 Grid®, which helps prospective buyers quickly visualize top performers in any category — including Dental Practice Management.
What to Look For in a Dental Software Review
When you’re browsing reviews, focus on more than just star ratings. Look for themes and specific feedback around:
- Ease of Use: How quickly can your team adopt the system?
- Customer Support: Is help readily available when you need it?
- Features that Matter: Does the platform support both clinical and operational goals?
- Future Readiness: Is the company actively innovating and listening to users?
For example, in G2’s Summer 2025 Grid® Report, Oryx Dental Software earned a 100 Net Promoter Score (NPS) — the highest of any dental software provider on the list.
Oddly (based on what you might expect from a marketer), I hope a score like that raises some skepticism.
The current scoring, at the time of this post, is 12 of 13 reviewers gave us a 10 out of 10 rating. One reviewer offered a high, passive rating of 8, and no reviewers posted detractor grade rankings. The NPS score is calculated via total “promoters” (those who offer a 9 or 10 score for likeliness to recommend) minus “detractors” (those who offer a score of 6 or below).
Overall, between the circle of Oryx users, and the circle of active G2 commenters, Oryx has scored exceptionally well within the small overlapping section of the Venn diagram. We’d actually love it if more end users offered reviews as it’ll keep this score honest, and well-aligned to what you should expect from us.
Nevertheless, 100% of reviewers also agreed Oryx is moving in the right direction, and 96% praised its ease of use. That’s nothing to shake a stick at.
Why Oryx Made the Grid® (and What It Means for Your Practice)
G2 named Oryx a High Performer in both its overall Dental Practice Management Grid® and the Small Business segment. This recognition isn’t just an empty accolade. It reflects real-world validation from the people who use the software every day.
Dr. Rania Saleh, founder and CEO of Oryx Dental Software, puts it best:
“These placements reflect the voice of our users, and there’s no greater validation than that. At Oryx, we’re deeply committed to empowering dental professionals with intuitive, evidence-based tools that improve both clinical outcomes and day-to-day operations.”
Unlike other solutions built from a business-first mindset, Oryx is built by dentists, for dentistry. Admittedly, it’s why I personally respect Oryx as a tool. I do woodworking as a hobby, and the best woodworking tools come from people who are masters of that craft. The best tools aren’t built for capturing available spend. They’re built to serve people in their craft.
With Oryx, every feature is designed with clinical intelligence at its core, from patient-first workflows to AI-driven automation that streamlines daily tasks.
I’m not here to sell you, or oversell you if the point has landed already.
As soon as you have a sense Oryx might be a fit for your practice, use the next right tool for the job…
Tips for Choosing the Right Software for Your Practice
Whether you’re evaluating Oryx or any other platform, here’s a checklist to guide your selection process:
✅ Define Your Needs: Identify the biggest pain points in your current system.
✅ Read Verified Reviews: Use G2 and similar platforms to hear directly from real users.
✅ Schedule Demos: Hands-on experience can reveal things reviews can’t.
✅ Ask About Onboarding: Will the vendor support your team during the transition?
✅ Think Long-Term: Choose a partner that’s innovating for the future — not just today.
